As the company grew, they became more daring in their models. They created the Orbiter, an unusual design that contained the FM transmitter. This allowed the artist to play the instrument and amplify it over a stereo system simply by tuning it to about 102.3. When they created this unique instrument they were able to walk the streets of Frederick and still pick up the sound for about two blocks!

Unfortunately, as the company was reaching a level of popularity it had not previously known, Ralph Jones died. The company struggled along for over a year after his passing, it was never quite the same. It closed its doors in the seventies. David Sturgill acquired the rights to issue the guitar and made them under the “Diamond-S” name. They produced the guitars for less than a year and all fell apart. Micro-Frets was no longer.
